I never thought I would end up back at S.O.bs.
I was allowed to cover another artist’s S.O.Bs event four years ago, and I’ve been in love with the venue ever since. I know you’re probably thinking, of course, that it’s a legendary performance venue. Still, those long lines into the club and bright lights hitting the stage can be intimidating to a media personality. It’s almost like, “where the hell do I start.” Constantly saying to myself, “where do I begin?”, “Who do I interview first?” and “How much are the drinks?” lol.
The Goddess packed S.O.Bs.
If anyone ever had doubts about the crowd that K.Goddess could potentially bring to any performance opportunity, you would’ve instantly been proven wrong on June 29th. Not only did she have the support of some talented openers, but her backing from Major stage, On The Radar, The Artistry, and Belaire was indeed in the building, making sure K got more than enough love to pull off a fantastic show. Although fans like myself would’ve been okay with a full-on set from the Goddess alone, her surprise guest performers Billy B, Capella Grey, D Chambers, and more were a particular extra highlight to the show.
K performed some of her top streaming hits like “Brownsville B****,” “Keep it 100”, and “Jackie Robinson.” Even with all the twerking and popping on the stage, The Goddess still had time to remind us that she has bars by spitting a few lines from her 16 that she recited at the host Gabe from On The Radar’s all-female cipher. We know that K.Goddess has been a powerhouse and has been doing things for a long time on her own. This event, along with many others, probably wouldn’t have run as smoothly without her team's support that I could see firsthand work diligently behind the scenes.
Every Goddess needs a good team behind her, and K is no different. V-Henny K’s manager and the founder of The Artistry Entertainment, Vianca Bentley K’s publicist, Dj Chase, the event’s DJ for that evening, her manager Rondo, and her manager Webb were a big part of the success of that event.
Azanna
I hand the opportunity to chop it up with one of the dope openers for K that night, Azanna. At another event, I have introduced to this talented beauty for artist Zay The profit. Azanna’s star quality and eye-catching performance are hard to forget. Not many people come with a complete set of show tracks, skilled backup dancers, and an equally fantastic feature performer, but Azanna does. Not only did her backup dancers come with moves that I will be asking them to teach, but you know the outfits had to coordinate. I love pink, lol.
You can listen to my full interview with Azanna here as we talk about what she has planned for the summer and her trip to Atlanta.
D Chambers
Dtf’s own D Chambers wasn’t hard to miss once he made his way down the media line. How could I not stop and talk to the man paving the way in online radio? Now, I don’t embarrass easy, but you’ll see why when you hear our interview, lol. I’m used to seeing D Chambers in DTF studios putting us on to the hottest MCs in the TRI-state, but tonight he was in full artist mode as one of K’s featured guest performers. D Chambers and K.Goddess blessed the S.O.Bs stage with their collaborative record called “Dripp’n In Fashion.”

Tay Mack
Soon after my interview with D Chambers and a few photo ops, I was introduced to a lively artist named Tay Mack. Tay Mack made it known that he is ready to kill the stage and brings the hottest music we’ve ever heard this summer. Tay Mack also mentioned that he’s prepared to travel, which means touring a different city that knows your music. The star quality is all over Tay Mack’s persona.

I knew that my first night back in the fantastic atmosphere of S.O.Bs would be worth it, but I had no idea I would get a chance to have a photo op with hip-hop legend Havoc, a part of the hip-hop duo Mobb Deep. I didn’t have the opportunity to interview him or pick his brain, but I’m sure that opportunity will present itself again.
As for my overall experience at the K.Goddess concert, I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy every minute of it. Not only did I enjoy it, but I also am very proud of K; she has overcome so much adversity and still manages to be her best self and satisfy her fans. To be an artist of her magnitude and talent takes dedication and consistency, and The Goddess continues to give us just that.
